Our “Lost Paradise” is 100% European.
100% euro (€) zone. And (however) 100% safe. Probably the last European area with no robbery. No stress. Quietness. Peace. Serendipity. Low prices, too. And only a few inhabitants at the end of this last third finger of the hand-shaped South of Peloponnese. Simply located off sunny islands generously heated by tepid breezes blown from both very close African and Asian continents, whose white beaches plunge straight into some of the most crystal clear and purest waters of the South Mediterranean Sea.
Our pastoral guest-house is located at the most narrow part of this natural finger-like 60 miles length and 3 miles width austral end of Europe, at the heart of a still active olive trees private familial property, along a 280 feet slow hill above the sea level, facing a blue lagoon closed by both islands of Kythira and Elafonisos. Kythira (about 1,000,000 square meters) was chosen by the gods to be the birth place of Aphroditis, goddess of Love; its island is only 1 hour far from our beaches and can be reached two times a day by ferry-boat. Elafonisos is smaller -about 9 miles- and closer to us (10 minutes across the sea). Its Simos beach is a true paradise with unbelievable translucent water and fine clear white sand. You can reach Elafonisos by boat more than 30 times a day in the summertime.
Both islands of Kythira and Elafonisos do lock safely our Neàpoli bay and its non-deep peaceful and mostly flat quiet waters and sandy beaches.
But the most authentic pastoral life and purest traditional local way of life will no doubt be experienced and enjoyed in the non-touristic area all over and around our village of Agioi Apostoloi -the Holy Apostles-. Here, besides two pubs for both left and right major political parties fans, you will enjoy the delightful taste of a familial low-fat Greek Laconian cooking at the restaurant of the village every evening (pork souvlaki, mutton païdakia cooked on a charcoal grill in front of you), while our own guest-table at the olive grove will serve you octopus tentacles, fresh sinagrida-fish, goat’s kid haunch or regional dish of the day made of our own local meat and vegetables.
Ideally fit for your active (or farniente) holidays, our 3 fully equipped apartments will welcome you and your children (and your familiar pets) all along the year in a safe and smooth environment, among our 130 magic and still productive olive trees. The oldest of them is 1000 years old and gives us every year as many olives as peaceful relaxation holy whiles to all our guests sitting under its toning and stimulating leaves. For we equipped it with a 6-meter circle of banks and chairs laid on a natural little stones flat ground, so that it is usually named our “meditation tree”.
Our neighbourhood is quiet, serene, free of traffic and of any walls or barriers, so that everybody can walk through all the slopes leading to the top of our 2000 feet mountain surrounding our olive fields. Many paths cross the bush and drive you to canyons, abandoned old villages or to a marvellous church (on the top of a wild hill) whose bell only rings once a year.
Here, in the deep South of Greece, villages (delicious rosé-)wine is still cheaper than mineral water. No big hotels, no real estate, no industry, no heavy cranes nor properties developers. The only programme is to remain hidden from the flashes of modernity, in the shade of millennial olive trees, raising one glass of ouzo on the rocks to your arrival. “Stinn igeia sou”, here’s to you!
